Using a Bill of Lading (BOL)
A Bill of Lading (BOL) is like a receipt for your shipment. It's not always required, but we always recommend using it as a way to manage your own records. Typically, you'll use it at both pickup and delivery as a way for both you and your service provider to sign off on dates and damages - both pre-existing or caused during transport.
If your carrier is using uShip's Electronic BOL (eBOL), click here.
To view and print your BOL, head to My Shipments and locate the shipment in question under the Assigned tab. Once you have located the shipment, click the drop down on the right side and select the Print BOL option. You'll need to have a program that views PDF files, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader. The BOL will open in a new window and you'll have the option to print from there.
Be sure to read through the first page of the document as it explains which sections to fill out. Not every section may be necessary to complete, depending on your situation.
You may receive a different BOL from your carrier that's more specific to your shipment. The BOL provided by uShip is a template that imports information from your listing. Using a different BOL is acceptable as long as it includes the same basic information.
Remember, your BOL is where you'll document any damages prior to pickup or after delivery. Don't forget to keep a copy for yourself!
