Additional Charge - Reconsignment
All LTL Carriers charge reconsignment fees for changing the delivery address after a shipment has been picked up. Please make sure that all delivery information is correct on the BOL before handing the BOL to the driver. If anything needs to be edited on the BOL before pickup, you can always reach out to the LTL Support Team at uShip, or simply cross out the incorrect information with a pen and write in the correct information.
Please note: If the shipper/consignee requests a reconsignment, the carrier won't invoice the shipper/consignee directly for the service. Per the carrier’s tariff rules – “If the shipment is prepaid to uShip the bill must go through the same party”. This charge is then passed on to the booking party, who is fiscally obligated for all costs pertaining to the execution of the shipment, per the uShip User Agreement.
uShip's LTL Operations team always seeks authorization for reconsignments from the booking party before they authorize them with the carrier. Because of this, very rarely can a reconsignment be disputed. If, based on your findings, there is a reconsignment charge which justifiably needs to be removed, please email ltlsupport@uship.com with the bill of lading number for the shipment in question along with an explanation as to why you feel that the reconsignment charge is not correct. uShip will then work with you to take this correction request to the carrier.
Please note: uShip has no vested interest in any type of additional charges from carriers. We want all shipments to be successful and invoice at the quoted amount. If you believe this charge is in error please help us help you with the additional charge by following the steps above.
