The video above shows you how to book an LTL Instant Rate on uShip in 6 easy steps. We'll also outline them in writing below:
Shipment Details
- Choose your packaging type, input dimensions, total weight, and be sure to including packaging. Then input the quantity. Be as accurate as possible.
- If you need to add another type of item to your quote, click on Add Another Item.
- Then enter your preferred pickup date, please note this pickup date is not guaranteed. We find that most bookings made for same day pickup are better accommodated if booked before 9am. If your pickup is missed, the carrier will roll it to the following business day.
- Next enter your origin zip code and location type. Be sure to select the most specific type, if you’re unsure, try Google Mapping each address. Then do the same for the delivery location.

Finally select the shipping services you need for pickup and delivery. Note that freight carriers will not hand offload any shipments. If no loading dock or forklift is available, be sure to request a lift gate.
Pricing
- uShip gives you several rates to consider within a few seconds. Services types include consolidated, priority/guaranteed, and standard.
- Note that the transit times provided are estimates, if you have a time sensitive shipment please consider expedited/guaranteed rates.
- You'll have the option to sort rates by price, feedback rating or transit days
- You can click on the carrier profile to read more about them and even read reviews from other uShip users.
Bill of Lading
- Include the names and contact details for both ends of the shipment. If the email is provided for the party at pickup, they will be sent a copy of this BOL to be printed prior to pickup. The party at pickup will need to print this BOL and have it alongside the freight.
- Note that the origin or destination city can be changed, as long as the zip code is not changing.
- The BOL includes a pickup window, a 3hr minimum is required.
- Do not add value added services under the instructions field unless you want your carrier to provide and then charge for said services.
- Finally, under BOL commodity include shipment contents
Checkout
- Here you’ll see the total shipping costs as well as more information on the uShip protection plan.
- Carriers liability insurance usually only covers cents per lb in case damages or loss occur, it’s worth considering the uShip Protection Plan if you’re concerned about potential damages or loss.
Booking Confirmation
- Review your BOL for accuracy.
- If everything looks good, finalize your booking and complete the transaction.
Confirmation Email
- Confirms that your booking was successful.
- Your shipment’s pickup number is usually included and it’s the best number to reference to your carrier prior to pickup.
