Setting up a Shipping Profile & Assigning Products
Updated
After installing the uShip Shopify App, the next crucial step is configuring uShip as a shipping method in your Shopify store.
Setting up a uShip Shipping Profile
Follow these steps to create a dedicated shipping profile for uShip:
- Go to your Shopify admin panel
- Navigate to Settings > Shipping and delivery
- Click "Create new profile"
- Name the profile "uShip" (or any name that clearly indicates it's for uShip shipping)
- Set up the Shipping Zones:
- Select "United States" as the region
- Important: Deselect ALL non-contiguous states and territories
- You should end up with 49 entities selected (48 contiguous states plus Washington D.C.)
- Click "Add rate"
- Select "Use Carrier App to calculate rates"
- Choose "uShip Rate Provider (Rates provided by app)" from the list
- Do not add a handling fee here - we'll adjust rates in the app settings later

Assigning Products to the uShip Shipping Profile
After creating the uShip Shipping Profile, you now need to assign which of your products will be shipped through uShip. Only products assigned to this profile will offer uShip as a shipping option at checkout:
- Go to your Products page in Shopify admin
- Select the products you want to ship via uShip
- In the bulk actions menu, choose "Add to shipping profile"
- Select the uShip profile you just created
- Save your changes
Troubleshooting
If uShip rates are not appearing at checkout:
- Verify that you've set up product metafields correctly (see our guide on Setting Up Metafields)
- Check that the product's weight is entered in your Shopify admin
- Ensure the customer's address is in the continental United States
- Confirm that the product is assigned to the uShip shipping profile
