Installing the uShip Shopify App

Before You Begin

Make sure you have:

  1. A Shopify store with Carrier Calculated Services (CCS) enabled. If you're unsure, check our guide on Shopify: Enabling Carrier Calculated Services (CCS).
  2. Admin access to your Shopify store.
  3. A uShip account with an active credit card tied to it

Step 1: Creating Your uShip Account

Having an account with a credit card on file is necessary to use uShip's services through the Shopify app. If you do not have a uShip account, you'll need to create one first:

  1. Create a uShip Account
  2. Add a Credit Card to Your uShip Account

Step 2: Generating Your uShip API Key

To connect your uShip account to the Shopify app, you'll need to generate an API key:

  1. Make sure you're logged into your uShip account and navigate to the API key generation page: https://www.uship.com/api-key-generation
  2. Follow the prompts to generate your API key
  3. Copy your API key and keep it safe – you'll need it during the app installation

  • Important: Your API key provides access to your uShip account. Never share it publicly or with unauthorized individuals.

 

Step 3: Installing the uShip Shopify App

Now that you have your uShip account and API key, you're ready to install the app:

  1. Access the Shopify App Store
    • Log in to your Shopify admin panel
    • Search for "uShip" in the search bar at the top
    • Click on the uShip app in the search results
  2. Add the App
    • On the uShip app page, click the "Install" button
    • Review the app's permissions and click "Install app"
  3. Connect Your uShip Account
    • After installation, you'll be prompted to enter your uShip API key
    • Paste the API key you generated earlier into the provided field
  4. Configure Initial Settings
    • Once connected, you'll be guided through the initial setup steps
    • This includes setting your shipping preferences.
  5. Verify Installation
    • Return to your Shopify admin panel and go to "Apps"
    • Confirm that the uShip app is listed among your installed apps

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues during installation:

  • Ensure your Shopify plan supports third-party calculated shipping rates (Carrier Calculated Services)
  • Check that you've entered your API key correctly
  • Clear your browser cache and try the installation process again
  • If problems persist, contact uShip support for assistance
