You've made the long trip, and you're at the point of delivery. Congrats! This is no time to rest easy though. Deliveries require special attention to detail.
Follow these steps for a flawless delivery.
1) Thoroughly inspect the shipment with your customer or consignee upon arrival, and sign off on delivery, noting any damages, using the Bill of Lading (BOL).
2) Once the BOL is complete, make sure you know which type of payment you're supposed to receive. If the shipping customer paid in full upon booking, you'll ask for the uShip Payment Code. If the shipping customer has paid only the booking deposit, then you'll have already agreed to the terms of the balance when you filled out the bid form. If you're unsure of the payment type, please consult your BOL or Booking Confirmation.
If there happens to be damages, it's important to be honest with your customer. If you carry cargo insurance, provide the shipping customer with your claim information right away. It's possible that the customer purchased uShip Cargo Insurance at checkout. If this is the case, they'll be able to file a claim directly through the site. If there's no insurance to cover the damages, then it's your responsibility to reach a resolution with your customer to cover the costs of repair.
